Woowee! Life sure did catch up with me these past few weeks. In fact, it feels like it’s several strides in front of me at this point in the race, but that’s alright. Richard Cumberland, the philosopher, says “It’s better to wear out than rust out”.
Tonga was a fantastic affair. The video below is of the blow holes on the Tongan coastline. Essentially, these cliffs have holes in them and when the waves crash against the rocks, it funnels through the hole and causes a spout of water to rush through it.
As you might expect, Tonga was nothing if not sunshine and leisure. I enjoyed my time there but I had to hit the ground running when I returned. I began my internship, Semester 2 classes and moved flats all within a few days of re-entering New Zealand.
My internship is shaping up really well! It’s with Financial Dispute Resolution of Dispute Resolution Services. We handle disputes through facilitation, mediation and adjudication. It’s meant to be less adversarial than going to trial, is usually faster and generally cheaper. I feel like I’ve learned a lot in the few weeks I’ve been there and I must say I work with some pretty upstanding folks!
The internship is part of my course credits at University. In addition to it, I’m taking macroeconomics and an identity based linguistics course. I also started doing hot yoga to help me keep a level head and a fit body. It’s served me well so far.
I have several topics I want to explore in future blog posts but time does not permit me to do so right at this moment. Believe me, they will not slip my mind and you will find them here eventually. One thing I will note is that I’m over half way through my scholarship term. It’s difficult for me to wrap my head around it, but stayed tuned for a “first half” reflection. Hope everyone is living well and happily!
